Rather than paying nearly $2,700 a month for a one-bedroom apartment in Vancouver, he decided to stay at home and fly to campus twice a week, paying about $150 per round-trip flight to attend his classes. With only a few hours of in-person lectures each week, his monthly travel costs come to roughly $1,200 — far less than Vancouver’s soaring rent. A
