The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency is facing increased backlash after a Minneapolis woman was fatally shot by an ICE agent.
To track potential immigration raids, some sites or community-sourced apps such as Deportation Tracker or ICE in My Area offer an interactive map to report and view recent ICE raids and enforcement with real-time alerts. They allow people to anonymously report ICE vehicles, checkpoints or detentions with specific location details.
The city of Minneapolis said it is "aware of a shooting involving federal law enforcement" near East 34th Street and Portland Avenue, urging people to avoid the area.
Local officials accuse immigration agents of "recklessly using power", as federal authorities say the officer fired shots in self-defence.
Minneapolis is the latest Democrat-run city to see an influx of federal agents as part of Trump's immigration enforcement efforts.
During a standard arrest, ICE officers issue a “Notice to Appear.” The notice accuses the person of being unlawfully present in the United States and calls on them to defend the charge in court.
The Trump administration has reconfigured its onboarding and training process to quickly deploy agents into the field.
