Russian forces have struck western Ukraine with a hypersonic ballistic missile which is supposedly capable of carrying nuclear warheads, the Defence Ministry confirmed. Moscow claims the attack on the western city of Lviv was a response to an alleged attempted drone attack on one of Vladimir Putin's residences last month.

Russia launched a large-scale overnight assault on Ukraine, bombarding multiple regions with hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles, Ukrainian officials said on Friday.

At least four people were killed and several others were injured.
