Overall, the data show the U.S. added just 584,000 jobs in 2025. By comparison, the U.S. added 2.2 million jobs in 2024. That makes last year the weakest year of job growth since 2003, excluding the pandemic-era disruptions of 2020 and 2021, when millions of were lost.
